MELISSA TYLER


Melissa Tyler grew up in Midland, Texas where she was a member of Midland Festival Ballet (MFB) for 6 years. During her time with MFB, she had the opportunity to perform in over 70 community performances with ensemble as well as solo roles. She participated in RDA Southwest with MFB and had the opportunity while in high school to attend multiple summer intensives all over the country including Milwaukee Ballet, Alabama School of Fine Arts, Saratoga Springs in NY, Ballet Magnificat! in Mississippi, and Point Park Summer Intensive. She moved to Pittsburgh in 2006 to attend Point Park University's Conservatory of Performing Arts. In 2009 she graduated with a B.A. in Dance with a concentration in Ballet. The highlight of her college dance education was attending the "Arts in Paris" study abroad program through Wells College in Paris, France. During her 5 month stay in Paris, she studied a variety of different styles of dance at Studio Harmonic Ecole de Danse, including ballet, jazz, classical Egyptian dance, and Bollywood dance. Ms. Tyler now teaches a variety of genres in several dance studios in the Pittsburgh area. Ms. Tyler is pursuing a Masters in Exercise Science and Wellness Promotion with a concentration in injury prevention and sports performance enhancement from California University of Pennsylvania. Ms. Tyler joined Bodiography in 2010.
